Louis Cutalo IV scored twice as the St. Anthony’s Friars (14-5-1) defeated the East Islip Chiefs (16-2-2) on Senior Night by a final score of 4-3. T. J. Ulmschneider picked up his league-leading 9th win to cap off a successful regular season for the Friars senior goaltender. The East Islip Chiefs elected to start Corey McGovern before putting Brody Dickson in at the midway mark of the 2nd period so that both seniors could play in their final regular season game.

Louis Cutalo IV opened the scoring with 3:37 remaining in the first frame. Joe Rocca made an escape turn in the left wing corner, and moved the puck to Brady Monteleone who made a pass from beneath the goal line for Cutalo IV to score on a shot from the slot. 14 seconds later the Friars jumped out to a 2-0 lead courtesy of Louis Cutalo IV. Joe Rocca got to work on the forecheck to secure possession before making a pass to Cutalo IV who fired a shot from the slot to beat McGovern.

Brody Dickson replaced Corey McGovern with 7:30 remaining in the second stanza. Anthony Pepe cut the Friars lead in half with 6:02 left in the second frame. Thomas Ivers collected a loose puck beneath the goal before making a quick pass to Pepe who went bar down on a quick shot from beneath the left wing face off circle. Jack Mancini scored with 21 seconds remaining in the period to put the Friars up 3-2. Mancini went coast-to-coast along the right wing wall, cut in towards the net and evaded a poke check from Dickson before scoring short side off a beautiful backhand shot.

Brody O’Doherty scored the Friars fourth and final goal of the game with 13:26 left in the 3rd period. Zack Sirel came in 2 on 1, fired a shot that was turned aside by Dickson and O’Doherty banked it off the netminder from beneath the goal line. Thomas Ivers scored a power play goal to make it 4-2. The Chiefs won the draw back to Ivers, who walked the line and fired a shot across his body that beat the Ulmschneider through traffic. The Chiefs pulled Dickson in favor of an extra attacker in the final minutes off regulation. L.J. Lena scored with 1:09 remaining to make it a one score game. The Chiefs won the draw forward leading to a pile up in front, but the puck came out to Lena who rifled one top shelf to beat the netminder through traffic. The Friars held on to win 4-3.
