Smithtown Settles The Score

J.P. Dallessandro scored the eventual game winner as the Smithtown Hauppauge Bulls (9-4-3-1) took an early lead and ran with it in an 8-0 victory over the Connetquot Sayville BBP T-Birds (7-10). Aidan Halliday backstopped the Bulls to his third shutout victory of the season. Shane Kirby started in goal for the T-Birds, but was replaced by Alex Clark at the start of the third period with Connetquot Sayville BBP trailing 4-0.

J.P. Dalessandro scored the eventual game winner with 12:57 remaining in the 1st period. Patrick Malone redirected a shot by Andre McGraime to Dallessandro who scored on a shot from the left wing dot. Victor D’Errico scored a wrap around goal with 10:00 left in the opening frame after Bulls blue liner Raymond Sherwood drew a delayed penalty which led to an extended period of 6 on 5 action. 

Shane Reidy deflected a shot by C.J. Guglielmo past Kirby to give the Bulls a 3-0 lead with 6:39 left in the second stanza. J.P. Dallessandro put the Bulls up 4-0 with 4:15 left in the 2nd period. Dallessandro won the draw to Malone who moved it to the point where Andre McGraime fired a shot that was deflected home by the Bulls center. Dallessandro was not credited with the goal on the official scoresheet, which the LI Sports Network is not involved with. 

Alex Clark relieved Shane Kirby at the start of the 3rd period as the T-Birds trailed by four. Max Campo tapped in a rebound with 13:46 left in the 3rd period. Jackson Cantalupo put the Bulls up 6-0 with 11:46 remaining in the frame. Shane Reidy entered the T-Birds zone 2 on 2 and made a pass to Cantalupo, who tapped it home from the backdoor. Brendan Landrigan scored a power play goal on a shot from the right wing with 10:26 remaining in the period. Patrick Malone buried a rebound to give the Bulls an 8-0 lead with 4:51 left in regulation.  The Bulls nearly went up 9-0 on a 3 on 0 opportunity, but Alex Clark made a stick save against Bobby Trites on the play.

Upcoming Schedule

The Smithtown Hauppauge Bulls will take on the Longwood Lions on Friday January 26th at 10:10 PM. The Bulls blanked the Lions in their first meeting of the season.

The Connetquot Sayville BBP T-Birds will take on the Northport Huntington Tigers on Sunday January 28th at 7:50 PM. The T-Birds won 7-1 in their first meeting with the Tigers, who were without several key players heading into the matchup. Expect both teams to be at full strength as the winner of this game is likely to finish with the sixth seed in the standings.
