Sachem Storms Back To Avoid Upset

HAUPPAUGE, N.Y. (LISN) — Sachem (10-5) scored four unanswered goals in a 4-2 comeback victory over the Northport/Huntington Tigers (6-9).

Junior Kevin Lysohir scored the game-winning goal.Senior Dom Oppedisano added two assists for Sachem.

Junior Chase Saunders scored the insurance goal to seal the deal. Junior Michael DiGirolamo picked up his 5th win through 10 starts.

Junior Boden Rudloff was sensational in his 10th start this season for the Tigers.

Junior Ryan Collins netted his fourth of the season, a power-play goal, at 12:21 in the 1st period to put the Tigers up 1-0. The third-year blue liner fired a shot that was blocked at the point, but recovered the puck before walking in and sniping top shelf.

Sophomore Owen Karpoich scored his 12th of the campaign to double the Tigers lead with an unassisted goal at 10:39 of the 2nd period. Karpoich forced a turnover in the neutral zone, raced into Sachem territory, and rifled it past the blocker of DiGirolamo.

Junior James Drago answered for Sachem at 8:40 in the second stanza. Oppedisano made a silky smooth pass to the slot for Drago, who made a pass to the back door that deflected off a Tigers defenseman and into the back of the net.

Sachem had a 5 on 3 advantage late in the middle frame, but they were stonewalled by Rudloff multiple times.

Kalberer tied the game on the power play at 2:15 of the 2nd period. Oppedisano made a seam pass to Kalberer who beat Rudloff high.

Lysohir broke the tie at 12:45 of the 3rd period, scoring unassisted to give Sachem a 3-2 lead.

Kalberer had a golden opportunity to extend the lead, but was stonewalled by Rudloff.
