Bulls Blank T-Birds in Playoff Opener
HAUPPAUGE, N.Y. (LISN) — Gavin Bareham scored the game-winning goal in the 1st period as the Smithtown/Hauppauge Bulls rolled to a 7-0 shutout over the Connetquot/Sayville T-Birds in their playoff opener on Monday night.
The Bulls controlled the game from the start, with Bareham opening the scoring just under seven minutes into the 1st period. Shane Reidy added another goal late in the frame to give Smithtown/Hauppauge a 2-0 lead after one.
In the 2nd period, Brayden Beltrani extended the lead early before Reidy netted his second of the night on the power play. Max Campo and Jackson Cantalupo added goals before the period ended, stretching the Bulls’ lead to 6-0.
John Avlonitis capped off the scoring early in the 3rd period to seal the dominant victory.
The Bulls’ defense held strong throughout the game, limiting the T-Birds’ chances and securing the shutout.
