Miklitsch’s Hat Trick Powers St. Anthony’s Past Ward Melville
HAUPPAUGE, N.Y. (LISN) — Joe Miklitsch recorded a hat trick to lead the St. Anthony’s Friars to an 8-2 victory over the Ward Melville Patriots on Monday night.
Miklitsch opened the scoring in the 1st period, finding the back of the net to give St. Anthony’s an early lead. Will Bisogno doubled the advantage shortly after, sending the Friars into the intermission up 2-0.
In the 2nd period, Miklitsch netted his second of the night, which proved to be the game-winner. Anthony Giantinoto put Ward Melville on the board moments later, cutting the deficit to 3-1. St. Anthony’s responded with three unanswered goals. Zack Sirel restored the Friars’ three-goal lead before James Schendorf extended it further. Sirel struck again on the power play to make it 6-1. Anthony Cerulli added a power-play goal for Ward Melville late in the frame, trimming the deficit to four.
Miklitsch completed his hat trick early in the 3rd period, pushing the Friars ahead 7-2. Brody O’Doherty capped off the scoring with a power-play goal as St. Anthony’s closed out an emphatic victory.
