Bulldogs Refuse To Lose

Nico Buglione scored the eventual game winning goal as the the Bellmore Merrick Bulldogs (10-3) defeated the Roslyn/ E. Williston/ Carle Place Spartans (1-11) by a final score of 9-4. Jack Sarosy picked up his fourth win of the season for the Bulldogs. Zack Goldman made 29 stops in his fifth start of the season for the Spartans. 

Sean Keene scored on a shot from the right wing dot to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead with 1:09 gone by in the 1st period. Jourdan Luskoff buried a rebound off a shot by Noah Zinman to extend the lead to two with 6:24 gone by in the frame. Collin Rouslton scored on an odd-man rush to put the Bulldogs up by three with 12:21 gone by in the first frame. T. Sammy Carrozza put the Spartans on the board with 13:30 gone by in the frame. Jacob Pinsk forced a turnover at the Bulldogs blue line, cut from the right wing wall towards the slot, fired a backhanded shot which was kicked out to Carozza who cashed in on the rebound. Jacob Pinsk scored a power play goal to make it a one score with 14:38 gone by in the frame. Jordan Sirota made a saucer pass to the back door, where Pinsk fired the one timer past Sarosy. The Bulldogs outshot the Spartans 12-11 in the 1st period. 

Collin Roulston scored right after the conclusion of a two-minute power play to put the Bulldogs back up by two with 6:48 gone by in the second stanza. Roulston collected the puck in the left wing corner, carried it around the net before turning to fire a shot from the right wing dot that beat Goldman far side. Nico Buglione scored a shorthanded goal with 10:20 gone by in the period. Nick Drogan forced a turnover at the Bulldogs blue line, drew a tripping call in transition, entered the Spartans zone and feathered one to Buglione who tapped it home. Hunter Paul scored his first career goal on a shot from the slot to extend the lead to four with 12:05 gone by in the period. The Bulldogs outshot the Spartans 13-8 in the second frame. 

Nick Drogan scored with 1:46 gone by in the 3rd period to extend the Bulldogs lead to 7-2. Bulldogs goaltender Stephen Soel replaced Jack Sarosy in the opening minutes of the final frame. Kyle Wilcha scored the Bulldogs eighth goal of the game on the power play with 3:20 gone by in the 3rd period. Jaden Grillo put the Bulldogs up 9-2 with 8:17 gone by in the final fifteen. Jordan Sirota slipped past two defenders in transition and beat Soel short side high to score the third goal of the game for the Spartans with 12:52 gone by in the frame. Fifty-two seconds later Kash Bishop ripped top shelf from the left wing dot off a beautiful feed from Jordan Sirota. The Bulldogs outshot the Spartans 13-6 in the 3rd period. The Bulldogs and Spartans each went 1 for 3 on the power play. 

Following Bellmore Merrick picking up their tenth consecutive win in decisive faction, Bulldogs blue liner Noah Zinman spoke to us on the broadcast. The senior credited the team’s recent success on their ability to execute on a strong game plan. When asked about being selected to represent the Bulldogs at this year’s All-Star game, Zinman said ” Truly honored, truly honored and I couldn’t do it without my teammates or my coaches. It’s not just me being part of the All-Star game, we really should all be doing this together.”
