Wings Triple The Hawks

LONG BEACH, NY- Garden City/Herricks/Mineola defeated Plainview-Old Bethpage/Island Trees 9-3 on Sunday night in Conference II play. The Wings move to 2-7-1 on the season, and the Hawks fall to 4-8.

The puck bounced through the slot to Andres Dominguez at the point, who fired it into the back of the net from long range. Garden City jumped out to a 1-0 lead 2:29 into the game.

Marco Cinque showed off the moves before backhanding a puck that squeaked past the goaltender. This would tie the game at one 6:34 into the first.

Dom Mack then scored three straight goals for Garden City. The first with four minutes left in the opening period, then 16 seconds into the second period he scored again.

Mack’s third goal to complete the natural hat trick was 1:19 into the second, so that is 63 seconds between the last two goals.

Cinque got one back for the Hawks with just under six minutes left in the middle period. Then it started to get away.

The Wings scored five unanswered goals across the second and third period, scored by Thomas Bacich, Jack Vessio, another from Mack and then a pair from Finn O’Sullivan.

Garden City’s lead was moved to 9-2. Cinque completed a hat trick of his own as the only goal scorer of the night for the Hawks with 3:59 to go.

The Hawks fell to the Wings by a 9-3 score. The winning goaltender in this one was Carter Pickens.
