The First Place Garden City Wings (11-1-1-1) defeated the Oceanside Sailors (4-9-0) by a score of 4-2 on Friday night. Here’s how it happened.

Alex Bedard played the puck in front to Bobby Seaman during a 2-on-1 rush, where Seaman tapped it in to start the scoring for Garden City. It was a shorthanded goal to put the Wings up 1-0 in the back half of the first period.

Oceanside tied the game up at one early into the second period. Andrew Livingston cleaned up a loose puck in front of the net for the goal.

Bedard showed off with a burst of speed before ripping the puck past the goaltender, restoring the Wings lead, this time 2-1. The lead doubled when Jeremi Dziedzic buried a shot after a terrific drop pass from TJ Salvato. Both goals were roughly a minute apart around the halfway point of the second period.

A few minutes into the third period, Livingston sniped his second goal of the game. He forced a turnover in the corner, received the puck and made no mistake, moving the score to 3-2 with Oceanside just a goal down.

Neither team was able to find the back of the net until the final seconds, where Salvato scored his second goal of the game on the empty net. The empty netter helped Garden City hold on for the 4-2 win.
