Two Late Goals Lift Marines Over Eagles
LONG BEACH, NY- Late game heroics helped lift the Long Beach Marines to a 4-3 win over the Bethpage Eagles. Long Beach improves to 2-0 with the win and Bethpage falls to 1-2 with the loss.
Marko Lisica got the scoring started with 5:44 to go in the first period with an incredible coast-to-coast solo effort.
Liam Young tied the game for Long Beach with a spinning shot on the power play with just under four minutes left in the first. However, Lisica did not let the score stay tied for long as he made it 2-1 Eagles with his second goal of the first period less than a minute later.
To close out a busy final five minutes of the first, Richie Behr smacked home a rebound with 1:08 left on the clock, evening the score at two for Long Beach.
After all that scoring, neither team was able to find the back of the net in the second period.
To begin the third, Nicholas Morolla rushed ahead and scored to give the Eagles their third lead of the night. This 3-2 lead would last for almost six minutes but once again the Marines would not go away.
Luke Pichichero tied the game at three with 6:30 left in the game. It was a play directly off the faceoff, where Pichichero skated into the slot and ripped the puck into the back of the net.
Long Beach took their first lead of the night with 1:34 left in regulation when Patrick Henry scored in-alone down low, making it 4-3.
The Marines would win this game in a thriller by a 4-3 score. Patrick Reilly picked up the win in goal.

Long Beach is back in action on Monday, November 25 when they take on Half Hollow Hills. Puck drop is slated for 7:40 pm at the Clark Gillies Arena.
