The SCHSHL Junior Varsity All-Star Guide

On Tuesday December 26th, the league’s rising stars will suit up for the 2023 SCHSHL Junior Varsity All-Star Game. The event is scheduled to take place at the Rinx in Hauppauge, NY. Puck drop is set for 7:30 PM. 

The Rosters

The Home Team

The Connetquot Sayville BBP T-Birds will be represented by forward Gavin Beisel and defenseman Josh King. Gavin Beisel has a team leading seven goals and ten points on the year. Josh King is a speedy two-way defender with one assist on the campaign. 

The East Islip Chiefs will be represented by forwards Logan Barton and Tierny Recenello as well as blue liner Niko Stavropoulos. Logan Barton has one goal and one assist on the campaign. Tierny Recenello has scored fifteen goals with twenty-two points on the season. The rising star tallied an assist on fellow JV call-up Peter Marazzito’s first career Varsity goal. Niko Stavropoulos, the dynamic defenseman, has five goals and eight points on the campaign. 

The Kings Park Commack Knights will be represented by defenseman Jack Franke and Corey Jacobs as well as forward Joe Mezzasalma and goaltender Jackson Murray. Jack Franke has scored one goal with four points in eight games at the JV level. The fourteen-year-old phenom made his Varsity debut against the Connetquot Sayville BBP T-Birds. Two-way blue liner Corey Jacobs has a balanced five goals and five assists in ten games this year. Joe Mezzasalma has scored seven goals and garnered seven asssists in eight games this season. The rising star has two power play goals and two shorthanded goals on the year. The Knights Jackson Murray has backstopped his team to eight wins with two shutouts on the season. 

The Longwood Lions will be represented by blue liner Grayson Benoit and center Michael Clemente. Grayson Benoit has scored seven goals with two assists on the campaign. The rising star had three points in a 7-6 win over the St. Anthony’s JV Gold Friars. Michael Clemente has three hat tricks with fifteen goals and eighteen points on the year. The star center scored the game winner in a statement win over the St. Anthony’s JV Gold Friars. 

The Northport Huntington Tigers will be represented by centers Justin Cahn and Ayden Shear. Justin Cahn has scored eleven goals with eighteen points in just eight games this season. Ayden Shear has scored five goals with twelve points on the season. Shear led the charge with two points in a third period win over the PatMed Raiders. 

The Smithtown Hauppauge JV Red Bulls will be represented by forwards Marcus D’Errico, Aidan Landrigan and Michael Wagner as well as goaltender Jack Pring. Marcus D’Errico has fifteen goals and twenty-four points on the year. Marcus’s older brother Victor plays for the Bulls Varsity squad. Aidan Landrigan has scored nineteen goals with thirty-two points on the year which is the fourth best mark in the division. Aidan’s older brother Brendan will play in the Varsity All-Star game this season. Jack Pring is 7-0 on the year with a 2.57 GAA and one shutout to his name. The JV Bulls Captain, Michael Wagner, has a balanced eight goals and eight assists on the year. Wagner has played two games for the Varsity squad this season.  

The Ward Melville Patriots will be represented by forward Jacob Sandak and defenseman Christian Tyler. Jacob Sandak leads all Patriots with seven goals and eight points on the year. The Patriots rising star netted a hat trick in a 7-5 win over the West Islip Lions. Christian Tyler has scored two goals with three points on the year for the Patriots. 

The Away Team

The Middle Country Cougars will be represented by forward Andrew Ianaconne and defenseman Declan Munkwitz. Andrew Ianaconne has scored five goals with fourteen points on the season. Declan Munkwitz has scored five goals with twelve points on the year. 

The PatMed Raiders will be represented by forwards Rocco Azzara and Jake Strong as well as defenseman Alexander Gapanoff. Rocco Azzara has scored twelve goals with sixteen points on the season. Defenseman Alexander Gapanoff has two goals and seven points on the year. Jake Strong has eighteen goals and twenty-six points in just eight games this season. 

Sachem will be represented by blue liner Matthew Bispo and goaltender Anthony Mare as well as forwards Caiden Marcus and Chase Saunders. Matthew Bispo has scored thirteen goals with twenty-four points in just eleven games to date this season. Anthony Mare is 5-1 with two shutouts on the campaign. Caiden Marcus has nine goals and twenty-five points on the season. Chase Saunders has scored twenty-one goals and is ranked third in points with thirty-three on the campaign. 

The Smithtown Hauppauge JV Blue Bulls will be represented by forwards Emma Sherwood and Matt Warner. Emma Sherwood leads her squad with four goals and eight points on the year. The rising Bulls star had two goals and two assists in a 6-5 win over the Ward Melville Patriots. Matt Warner has one goal and five assists on the year with two points in a big win over the Patriots. 

The St. Anthony’s JV Black Friars will be represented by forwards Will Bisogno and Vito Sacino as well as netminder Nicholas Tempone. Will Bisogno is tied for the team lead in goals with twelve and has twenty points on the year. Vito Sacino has scored twelve goals with twenty-nine points on the year. Sacino is ranked second in assists with seventeen and sixth in points. Nicholas Tempone has five wins for the St. Anthony’s JV Black Friars and picked up a shutout in two winning performances for the St. Anthony’s JV Gold Friars.

The St. Anthony’s JV Friars will be represented by forwards Mark Berner, Nick Busa and Benjamin Caraher. Mark Berner has scored six goals with fifteen points on the season. Nick Busa is tied for the league lead in goals with twenty-eight and has the second most points in the division with thirty-five. Benjamin Caraher has six goals and five assists on the season. 

The West Islip Lions will be represented by defenseman Ryan Flynn and Anthony Isopo. Ryan Flynn has scored three goals and garnered two assists in eleven games this year. Anthony Isopo is a shutdown defenseman who has one assist on the season for the Lions.
