HAUPPAUGE N.Y. (LISN) Senior James Schendorf scored twice in a three point performance as the St. Anthony’s Friars (6-0) cruised to a 7-1 victory over the Connetquot-Sayville T-Birds (1-5). Senior James Aspromonti scored his fourth of the season and added two helpers.

Junior Mauricio Carrasco Jr. scored his first career varsity goal. Senior Nick Tempone picked up his second win of the season for St. Anthony’s.

Senior Chris Esposito scored his second goal of the year. Senior Alex Clark made his third start of the season for the T-Birds.

Aspromonti put St. Anthony’s up 1-0 with 10:02 remaining in the 1st period. The Friars winger entered the zone and fired a shot on goal as Schendorf crashed the net for a rebound. The Friars center forced it free for Aspromonti, who tucked in a wraparound on his backhand to finish the job.

Junior Anthony Cutalo scored the eventual game winner, his fifth goal of the season, just 36 seconds later. The St. Anthony’s sniper rolled off the wall, drifting across the slot, and rifled it top shelf.

Carrasco Jr. scored the third Friars goal in the span of a minute and 22 seconds. Junior Nick Busa threw it on goal and Carrasco Jr buried the rebound from the slot.

The Friars led 3-0 after the opening frame.

Schendorf scored his first of the night with 12:14 remaining in the second stanza. Senior Anthony Scorcia forced a turnover in his own end before cutting left-to-right to create time and space. The Friars winger dished it the slot for Schendorf, who overpowered a defender as he crashed the net, and shoveled it past Clark.

49 seconds into the 3rd period, Esposito scored to break the St. Anthony’s shutout and make it a 4-1 game. Junior Paul Wagner forced a turnover in his own end, Esposito flew up ice with the puck, and went five-hole on a shot from the bottom of the left wing face off circle.

The T-Birds called timeout with a little over five minutes remaining in the final frame.

Schendorf potted his third goal of the season, his first on the power play, with 3:45 remaining. The Friars center redirected a feed from Aspromonti on goal, before gathering the rebound, and sliding a backhand shot past Clark

Junior Zack Sirel, the Friars leading scorer, netted his eighth of the campaign with 1:21 left to go in regulation. Sirel cut towards the net, received a pass on his backhand, and toe-dragged past two defenders before ripping it top shelf.

18 seconds later Junior Tommy Azzariti scored his sixth of the season to make it 7-1. Sophomore Joe Miklitsch rifled it from the point, Clark made a shoulder save, but the puck popped up into the air, and Azzariti batted it back down into the net.
