Sachem Wins Barn Burner To Open Playoffs
HAUPPAUGE, N.Y. (LISN) — Kevin Lysohir recorded a hat trick as Sachem took control in a 10-5 win over Northport/Huntington in their postseason opener on Monday night.
Joe Wandling scored twice and added an assist in a strong offensive effort. C.J. Pena notched a goal late in the third period to seal the victory. JT Caruso found the back of the net for Northport/Huntington.
The first period started with Dominick Oppedisano opening the scoring early, followed by Anthony Pergolizzi extending Sachem’s lead. Northport/Huntington responded with two goals from Ryan Collins and Justin Cahn, tying the game at 2-2 heading into the second.
The second period saw Northport/Huntington briefly take the lead on a shorthanded goal from Collins, but Sachem answered with goals from Joe Wandling, Caiden Marcus, and Lysohir, who netted the eventual game-winner to make it 6-4 after two periods.
Sachem dominated the third, with Wandling adding another, Lysohir completing his hat trick, and Pena scoring the final goal of the game. Oppedisano also contributed a late assist.
