Sachem Storms Back On Senior Night

HAUPPAUGE, N.Y. — Senior Dom Oppedisano tallied two goals and two assists to lead Sachem (15-5-0) to an 8-4 victory over East Islip (9-11-0) on Wednesday night.

Junior Kevin Lysohir netted a hat-trick in the win.

Junior Cameron Kalberer scored twice and added an assist.

Senior Scott Loeb picked up his 8th win in as many starts for Sachem.

Senior Patrick O’Shea started in goal for the Chiefs.

Lysohir went backhand-forehand to score a breakaway goal at 12:03 of the 1st period to make it 1-0 Sachem.

Junior Evan Lafata tied the game at 11:28 of the 1st period. The puck caromed of the end boards to the backdoor for LaFata, who tapped it home.

Kalberer put Sachem back on top at 3:12 of the 1st period with his 17th goal of the season. Junior James Drago dangled through the center of the ice, drifted to his left, and fired a backhand pass to the back door for Kalberer, who tapped in home

Lafata struck again at 9:32 of the 2nd period, scoring his 20th goal of the season to tie the game. Freshman Ryan Bradley forced a turnover, came in 2-on-0 with LaFata, and the freshman found the junior for a one-timer.

Sophomore Peter Marazzito gave East Islip a 3-2 lead at 6:40 of the 2nd period with his fifth goal of the season. The puck popped out in front of the goal for Marazzito, who spun away from the goal and beat the goaltender with a backhand shot.

Lysohir responded with a power-play goal at 2:08 of the 2nd period, burying a rebound to tie the game.

Kalberer gave Sachem the lead with 22 seconds left in the 2nd period. Oppedisano overpowered two defenders and slid it to the back door for Kalberer to tap it home.

Junior Nyckie Ress netted his 4th of the season off a broken play in front of the EI crease to extend the lead to 5-3 at 12:18 of the 3rd period.

Oppedisano redirected a pass from Lysohir in to make it 6-3 at 8:47 of the 3rd period.

Lysohir completed the hat-trick with a power play goal, his 26th tally of the season, at 5:38 of the 3rd period.

Oppedisano lit the lamp for his 18th of the season another at 4:39 of the 3rd period. The senior dangled through three white sweaters before going backhand-forehand to tuck it over the outstretched pad of O’Shea.

Senior Tyler Wichert scored his first varsity goal for East Islip at 3:06 of the 3rd period.
