Roslyn Survives The Storm

LONG BEACH, NY- Roslyn/East Williston/Carle Place defeated the Valley Stream/Sewanhaka/Lynbrook Storm 6-4 on Sunday night. Both teams moved to 1-2 on the season after this game.

It took until there were 18 seconds left in the first period for the scoreless tie to be broken. William Algozzini made a terrific move to cut towards the net before ripping the puck past the goaltender Avery Brewer, giving VSSL the 1-0 lead.

Justin Fox finished off the pass from Noah Schor on the power play 2:12 into the second period to tie the game at one.

VSSL took their lead back just over three minutes later by forcing a series of turnovers. Jack Doran scored the goal.

Jordan Sirota tied it with 7:09 left in the second with his first of two goals on the night. Roslyn then took their first lead by a 3-2 score 16 seconds later when Colin Hoisik tapped home a power play goal.

Before the second period was over, Anthony Scarcella evened the score at three with 3:18 left in the middle frame.

Roslyn came out firing in the third as they scored three unanswered goals from Sirota, Ellis Bornstein and Schor. Bornstein’s would hold as the game-winner, since VSSL got one back in the game’s final five minutes courtesy of James Steinberg.

Brewer was the winning goaltender in this one.

Roslyn/East Williston/Carle Place is quickly back in action as they visit the Bellmore-Merrick Bulldogs at Newbridge Arena tonight at 6:15 pm.

Valley Stream/Sewanhaka/Lynbrook hosts Syosset/Jericho on Wednesday at the Town of Oyster Bay Skating Center at 7:45 pm.
