SCHSHL Varsity Ice Hockey Showdown: East Islip Chiefs Triumph Over St Anthony’s Friars in a Thrilling Rematch
In a rematch of last season’s SCHSHL Finals, the East Islip Chiefs faced off against the defending SCHSHL and NYSAHA State Champions, the St Anthony’s Friars.
The game started off with both teams trading goals, keeping the fans who filled the RINX on the edge of their seats. The first period saw Anthony Scorcio of St Anthony’s scoring a goal, assisted by Ryan Leon and Thomas Azzariti. Not to be outdone, Ryan Anatra of the East Islip Chiefs showcased some of his unbelievable skill with an unassisted goal.
The second period was equally fast paced, with both teams scoring two goals each. Ryan Anatra continued his impressive performance, scoring another goal for the Chiefs, assisted by Thomas Ivers. Brady Monteleone and Ivers also added to the tally for their respective teams.
However, the third period was where the Chiefs really kicked it into gear. They managed to net five goals, with the Friars scoring three. Ryan Anatra was undoubtedly the star of the game, scoring two more goals, bringing his total to four for the game. His speed, skill, and game sense were on full display.
The final score was 8-6 in favor of the East Islip Chiefs. Despite the loss, the St Anthony’s Friars showcased their championship pedigree, fighting till the very end.
