Miannuli Scores To Send Syosset To Semis

Patrick Mianulli scored the golden goal in overtime as the Syosset Braves squeaked by the VSSL Storm in the NYIHSHL Quarterfinals. Nick Summa made 17 stops in a stellar performance for the Braves. Patrick Algozzini made 27 saves in a heartbreaking loss for the Storm 

Jake Gagliano gave the Braves a 1-0 lead with 8:36 remaining in the opening frame. Wesley Siegler entered the zone along the right wing wall before carrying the puck beneath the goal line. Siegler made a beautiful feed to the slot for Gagliano who beat the netminder far side as he slid right to left. Aidan Seegal scored the equalizer with 6:51 left in the 1st period. Seegal got tied up beneath the goal line before the Storm won the puck battle to Seegal who banked the puck in off the netminder from beneath the goal line. The Storm jumped out to a one score lead off a power play goal courtesy of Aidan Seegal with 2:38 remaining in the frame. Seegal entered the zone along the left wing wall, pulled up just below the face off circle and sniped bar down on an off angle shot. 

Neither team would find the back of the net in the 2nd period thanks to the stellar play of both Summa and Algozzini. 

Zach Noll scored with ten seconds left in the 3rd period to force overtime. Noll won the draw to Robert Engel who gave it right back to the Braves center who beat the netminder five hole on an off angle shot from beneath the left wing circle. Patrick Mianulli scored the game winner on a shot from the point with 3:59 left in overtime.
