Manhasset Opens Season With Big Win Over Plainview

BETHPAGE, NY-The Manhasset/Great Neck Port Washington Indians (1-0) got their season started right with a big 8-2 win over the Plainview-Old Bethpage/Island Trees Hawks. The Hawks fell to 1-1.

The Indians jumped out to a 1-0 lead when Daniel Perlman buried a rebound into the net. Jason Eoanidis took the initial shot that set up the goal. It was the only goal of the first period.

Peter Drouzas fired a shot from the slot past the goaltender after receiving a pass on the rush from Callum Murray, who also scored a goal later in the game. The Indians went up 2-0 5:30 into the middle frame.

Ryder Adlman put the Indians ahead by three with a quick wrap-around play that tricked the Hawks goaltender 6:17 into the second period.

The Hawks got on the board after going down 3-0, as it was Alex Labos who sniped the puck into the back of the net right off of an offensive zone faceoff. Labos‘ goal came 16 seconds after Adlman’s.

The third period is where the offensive explosion began. Ari Sawits scored two goals, including his first just 57 seconds into the third. He made a great move on the backhand to finish the play that Harry Toumbekis set up.

Goals from Murray and Ryan Krainman made it 6-1 for the Indians to put the game out of reach with 6:03 left on the clock.

Manhasset/Great Neck Port Washington would add two more goals along with giving up one more to Plainview-Old Bethpage/Island Trees, and took the game by a score of 8-2.

On Friday night, Farmingdale visits Manhasset/Great Neck/Port Washington at the Andrew Stergiopoulos Ice Rink at 6:45 pm.

Plainview-Old Bethpage/Island Trees is also back in action on Friday as they take on the Wantagh/Seaford/Plainedge Kings at the Long Beach Ice Arena at 7:45 pm.
