Lee Brothers Shine as Hawks Defeat Kings 4-2

BETHPAGE, N.Y. (LISN) — The Plainview-Old Bethpage/Island Trees Hawks (3-4, Conference II) defeated the Wantagh/Seaford/Plainedge Kings (4-2, Conference II) with a 4-2 victory.

Daniel Lee led the Hawks with two goals, including the game-winner, and added an assist.

Udit Suri stopped 18 of 20 shots to earn his first win between the pipes for the Hawks.

Robert Lee contributed a goal and an assist.

Joseph Columbel made twelve saves in his fifth start of the season for WSP.

The Kings struck first with 12:38 remaining in the 1st period when Justin Roberts netted his first career varsity goal. Roberts sniped stick side high on a shot from the slot to make it 1-0.

Daniel Lee tied the game at 9:23 in the opening stanza, scoring short side on a partial breakaway with a smooth backhand-forehand move.

Robert Lee gave the Hawks a 2-1 lead at the 5:12 mark, scoring his first career varsity goal. He tucked the puck past the outstretched pad of Columbel after receiving a pass from Daniel Lee.

The Kings answered with a minute left in the 1st period when Ryan Agovino buried a rebound off a shot by Jonathon Denier for his sixth goal of the season, tying the game at 2-2.

Just 39 seconds into the 2nd period, Daniel Lee scored the game-winning goal on a breakaway, going forehand-backhand for his ninth goal of the season.

Matthew Wilson sealed the victory with his first career varsity goal at the 12:04 mark of the 2nd period, extending the Hawks’ lead to 4-2.
