Knights Run Over EI
HAUPPAUGE N.Y. (LISN) – Senior Ronny Kemly scored twice in a five point performance to lift the Kings-Park Commack Knights (5-1) to a 5-2 win over the East Islip Chiefs (2-4). Kemly scored his first of the night on the power play before scoring the game winning goal in the 3rd period.
Senior Jesse Lemza, the captain, scored the insurance goal and added an assist for KPC. Senior Jack Salva scored his eighth of the season in a two point outing. Senior Jacob Dufresne picked up his second career win in three starts.
Junior Dario Baerga made his second career start in goal for the Chiefs. Junior Evan LaFata scored his fifth of the season. Sophomore James Walsh scored his first career varsity goal for EI.
Senior John Coyle went top shelf on a shot from outside the right wing circle to open the scoring for the Knights with 9:21 left in the opening stanza. Kemly went stick side high to score a power play goal with 3:43 remaining in the 1st period. Kings Park-Commack led 2-0 after one period of play.
Walsh scored to put the Chiefs on the board with 5:08 left in the 2nd period. Walsh buried a rebound off a shot by Freshman Landon Musumeci. LaFata scored an unassisted, breakaway goal with 56 seconds remaining in the second stanza. The score was 2-2 after two periods.
Kemly netted his sixth of the season with 12:40 to go in the 3rd period. Kemly went coast-to-coast, carved through the defense, and went forehand-backhand to make it 4-2 Kings Park-Commack.
Lemza scored his sixth of the season with 8:26 left in the final frame. One minute later, Senior Jack Salva scored his eighth of season to make it 5-2 Knights. Salva went forehand-backhand to complete the tic-tac-toe play.
