Ice Falcons Knock Off Wings

Brendan Dalton potted a hat-trick as the East Meadow/ Levittown/ Hicksville Ice Falcons (6-7) defeated the Garden City Wings (10-2-1-1) by a final score of 5-3. Ice Falcons netminder Darien Viviano picked up his fourth win through seven starts on the campaign. Carter Pickens made thirty saves on thirty-four shots against in his fourth start of the season for the Wings.

Brendan Dalton scored to give the Ice Falcons a 1-0 lead with 8:51 gone by in the first frame. Dalton shook off a defender in the slot, walked in to receive a pass and fired a quick shot glove side high for his 17th of the campaign. Jeremi Dziedzic evened the score with 14:58 gone by in the 1st period. Dziedzic cut in beneath the hash marks, received a pass from Alex Bedard, and fired a quick shot short side to net his twelfth goal of the season. 

Bobby Seaman scored to give the Garden City Wings a one goal lead with thirty-seven seconds gone by in the 2nd period. Seaman buried a rebound on his backhand for his 26th goal of the season. Bobby Seaman scored a shorthanded goal to give the Wings a two goal lead with 9:50 gone by in the period. Seaman forced a turnover, raced up the ice on a breakaway and went forehand-backhand to net his 27th of the campaign. Thirty-eight seconds later, Brendan Dalton netted his second of the game on the power play to cut the Wings lead to one. Dalton cut in from the right wing wall to the slot and ripped one glove side high for his eighteenth of the year. 

Aidan Masterson netted the equalizer with 6:45 gone by in the 3rd period. Owen Hickey drew a delayed penalty for hooking on a partial breakaway in the 3rd period, settled the puck beneath the Garden City goal line as he circled the net and threaded the needle on a pass to Masterson who beat Pickens five-hole. The Ice Falcons jumped out a one goal lead courtesy of Owen Hickey with 11:31 gone by in the period. Brendan Dalton forced a turnover in transition and Hickey pounced on the loose puck before cutting from the left wing towards the slot where he fired a beauty to beat a sliding Pickens stick side. The goal was mistakenly credited to the incorrect player on the official scoresheet, but would have been Hickey’s 13th tuck of the season. Brendan Dalton potted the shorthanded, empty net goal to seal the deal with 13:37 gone by in the final frame.
