Ice Falcons Down The Dalers

BETHPAGE, NY- The East Meadow/Levittown/Hicksville Ice Falcons improved to 2-0 on the young Varsity season with a convincing 11-0 win over the Farmingdale Dalers (0-2).

Darien Viviano picked up his first win of the season by keeping the Dalers out of the net with an 18-save shutout performance.

Brendan Russo got the scoring started late in the first period, with 3:49 to go, on a beautiful backhanded breakaway move. Russo’s goal would stand as the game-winner when this one was all set and done.

Ten seconds later Luca Hafner doubled the Ice Falcons lead. Right after the center ice faceoff, they rushed the puck up the ice, and the third rebound show went past the goaltender. Hafner would score again 57 seconds into the second period making it back-to-back goals for #88.

In the second period, Max Shafran blew the game open with a natural hat trick. His first came 3:44 into the middle frame as he ripped a wrist shot past the goaltender from long range. His second goal was buried after he picked up his own rebound and slipped the puck through traffic into the net.

Shafran completed his natural hat trick with a one-timer snipe just under the bar from close range. Jack Drew made a great pass from behind the net to set up Shafran, who added one more goal in the second period along with his fifth of the game in the third.

Drew scored twice in this game, along with Russo who added another goal as well.

Both teams are back in action on Friday night, as Farmingdale visits Manhasset/Great Neck/Port Washington at the Andrew Stergiopoulos Ice Rink at 6:30 pm.

East Meadow/Levittown/Hicksville hosts Oceanside at the Town of Oyster Bay Skating Center at 7 pm.
