The Long Beach Marines played the Half Hollow Hills Hornets to a 3-3 draw from the Clark Gillies Arena on Sunday Night.

Luke Guttman had a strong performance in goal for Half Hollow Hills, as he stopped 42 shots in the game. The scoring started early into the first period, where Benson Huang ripped a shot into the net just 1:45 into the game.

The Hornets jumped out to a 2-0 lead with a power play goal directly from a faceoff 5:26 into the first. Joseph Castellano’s shot from the point made it through traffic and entered the net. Long Beach was able to get one back in the final minute of the opening period with a power play goal of their own. Richard Behr Jr beautifully deflected Luke Pichichero’s long shot past Guttman.

Patrick Henry scored his first of two goals on the night early into the second. Henry tapped the puck in after a perfect pass through the crease from Rory Ahearn. Long Beach tied the game at two but couldn’t escape the second period tied. Dylan Solomon cleaned up a rebound on the power play, restoring Half Hollow Hills’ lead in the period’s final minute.

Long Beach scored in the game’s final five minutes when Henry poked his second of the night past Guttman. The goaltender came diving out with the puck alone in front so all Henry had to was slide it past the goal line. The game was tied at three.

The Marines had two chances on the power play in the game’s final minutes but could not score. Neither team found the back of the net resulting in the 3-3 tie.
