Friars On A Three Game Heater!

The Defending Champions have won four of their last five games.

Brady Monteleone scored the Game Winning Goal with 3:33 gone by in the final frame. The Friars Captain entered the zone 1 on 2 with his team on the man advantage. Monteleone cut across the ice, before firing a beautiful wrist shot. The St. Anthony’s star’s snipe sent the Patriots goaltender’s gatorade bottle flying into the air. Louis Cutalo IV and Brody O’Doherty were accredited with the primary and secondary assists respectively.

Shane Ryan started between the pipes for the Friars. Ryan has posted a 2-1 record in his rookie campaign. Ryan made an All-Star Appearance for St. Anthony’s JV Gold during the 2022-2023 campaign. The Former JV star was exceptional in net for the Friars. Michael Sittler made his sixth start of the season for the Ward Melville Patriots. Sittler has yet to record a win for the Patriots, but he has become a Ward Melville fan favorite nonetheless. He won one SCHSHL Varsity game in nine appearences for the Middle Country Cougars during 2022-2023 season. The sensational Sittler made a series of show stopping saves to keep the Patriots in striking distance. He allowed just one goal in the game.

Ryan and Sittler put on a clinic in the first frame. The St. Anthony’s youngster made difficult saves look routine, while the former Middle Country goaltender made a series of show stopping saves . The game was scoreless at the start of the second stanza. Ryan made two key stops in transition for the Friars. Sittler stonewalled St. Anthony’s on a breakaway opportunity for the defending SCHSHL Champions. After the Monteleone goal, the Patriots were unable to answer back. Ward Melville went onto pull Sittler in the games final minutes. Gerard Nealon scored an empty net insurance to seal the deal for St. Anthony’s. The Friars have won three consecutive contests since their loss to Sachem in late October.

St. Anthony’s will square off against Kings Park Commack on Monday November 27th at 8:10 PM. The Friars lost 4-2 in their first meeting with the Knights in September. Fans should expect St. Anthony’s to try and settle the score, while KPC looks to secure sole possession of the first seed in the playoffs.

Patriots Look to Roar Back Against The Longwood Lions

The Ward Melville Patriots will take on the Longwood Lions on Monday November 27th at 9:40 PM. Ward Melville won by one in their season opener against Longwood. SCHSHL fans can expect the Lions to come out looking for their first ever Varsity Win after the Thanksgiving Break.
