Four-Goal First Period Pushes Eagles Past Storm
LONG BEACH, NY- The Bethpage Eagles improved to 2-3 with a 6-3 win over the Valley Stream/Sewanhaka/Lynbrook Storm (1-4).
The Eagles jumped out to a resounding 4-0 lead in the first period, one that they never faltered and took to victory.
First, it was Nicholas Morolla getting the scoring started 4:28 into the contest. After a won faceoff, the D-man took the puck from the point and walked into the slot before his snap shot ended up in the back of the net.
The next three were in the final 2:33 of the first period. Morolla made a great cross-crease feed to Chris Ceglio who tapped home his tenth of the season.
Marko Lisica scored his first of three on the night with 1:11 to go in the game. A nice move on a solo rush was completed by a great shot into the back of the net.
Morolla scored his second goal of the game with a snipe in the period’s final minute.
VSSL got on the board when William Algozzini protected the puck and drove to the net before scoring.
Lisica then scored back to back goals with 2:57 left in the second and then 6:02 into the third period to complete the hat trick at a 6-1 score.
VSSL added two more to make the score 6-3, falling short and losing to Bethpage by that score.
Brandon Kotapka was the winning goaltender for the Eagles.
