Defending Champions Advance To JV Finals
Brayden Beltrani netted a hat-trick in a five point performance and Christian Semetsis completed a hat-trick of his own to power the Smithtown Hauppauge Bulls to a 10-1 victory over the East Islip Chiefs. Jacob Caradonna got the nod in net for the Bulls. Patrick O’Shea started in goal for the East Islip Chiefs.
Just 20 seconds into the opening frame, Christian Semetsis scored the go-ahead goal for the Smithtown Hauppauge Bulls. John Avlonitis moved it low-to-high for Ryan Trites, who fired a shot from the point that was redirected home by Semetsis. Bulls captain Michael Wagner scored the eventual game winner with 12:58 left in the 1st period. Marcus D’Errico forced a turnover before dishing it to Brayden Beltrani, who made a spinning pass to Wagner for a one-timer from the back door. Christian Semetsis scored his second of the game with 9:41 left in the first frame. It was a great individual effort by Semetsis, who made a lead pass to Aidan Landrigan before motoring up ice. Semetsis breezed past the EI defense, received a pass on his backhand, and brought it to his forehand to beat O’Shea over the shoulder on a 1 on 0. Just 48 seconds later, Brayden Beltrani scored to extend the Bulls lead to 4-0. Beltrani capitalized on a rebound opportunity off a shot by Marcus D’Errico. Brayden Beltrani scored the fifth unanswered Smithtown Hauppauge goal with 4:07 remaining in the 1st period. Christian Agovino banked a pass off the left wing wall to Beltrani, who finessed his way to the slot before going bar down.
James Walsh scored a power play goal to put the East Islip Chiefs on the board with 13:43 remaining in the second stanza. Tierney Recenello chipped it off the wall to Logan Barton, who entered 2 on 1 before dishing it to across for Walsh to snipe stick side high from the slot. Christian Semetsis put the Smithtown Bulls back up by five with :56 seconds remaining in the period. Semetsis forced a turnover, blew by the EI defense and went backhand-forehand to beat the netminder blocker side low.
Christian Agovino scored a power play goal with 9:27 remaining in the 3rd period to put the Bulls up 6-1. Brayden Beltrani fired off a one-timer from the slot off a feed from Aidan Landrigan, and Agovino cashed in on a rebound. Connor Dubeau’s initial feed from the point to Landrigan enabled the Bulls to set up the tic-tac-toe play that led to a rebound goal. Brayden Beltrani completed the hat-trick with 5:40 remaining in the third frame. Michael Wagner came up ice on a 2-0 with Brayden Beltrani, but the play was broken up by EI’s Blake Unverzagt on the backcheck. Marcus D’Errico pounced on the loose puck, threw it towards the slot and Beltrani redirected it home. Brandon Reidy scored to extend the Bulls lead to eight with 3:25 remaining. Ryan Trites fired a howitzer from the point and Reidy buried the rebound. 30 seconds later, Charlie Krikau found the back of the net to make it 10-1 Smithtown Hauppauge. Krikau fired a quick shot from the slot to beat the netminder off a feed from Jake Ryan.
