Deacons Hat Trick Downs The Dalers
LONG BEACH, NY-Oceanside took another huge victory in Conference II for their second straight win, this time by an 8-2 score over the Farmingdale Dalers. The Sailors now move to 5-4-0-2 and sit in fourth place. The Dalers have fallen to 1-8.
The scoring started just under six minutes into the game when Vince Romeo buried a tremendous feed from Luke Mallor just next to the crease.
Oceanside doubled their lead to 2-0 only 53 seconds later as Desmond Deacon got his scoring party started. Ethan Feinstein forced a turnover and made a great pass to Deacon in tight.
Farmingdale scored in the final minute of the first period when Cameron Black burst ahead on a breakaway and roofed the puck into the back of the net. After the first period, the score was 2-1 in favor of Oceanside.
The second period was all Sailors. Ethan Famularo buried a juicy rebound on the power play 50 seconds in. Ryan Twomey scored twice in the middle stanza at 5:12 and with 35 seconds left to improve Oceanside’s lead to 5-1.
33 seconds into the third period Deacon scored his second of the night making the score 6-1.
James Varriale tallied the Dalers second goal of the game with 7:04 remaining in the game, but that’s all the Farmingdale would get.
With five minutes left, Deacon finished the hat trick with a backhanded breakaway move. Romeo then closed the game out just how he opened it, by scoring and then making it 8-2.
Oliver Koch was the winning goaltender for the Sailors with an impressive 32 saves.
