Cyclones Rock Kings

HAUPPAUGE N.Y. (LISN) — Sean Barrett made 36 saves on 38 shots as the Rockville Center/ E. Rockaway/ Hewlett Cyclones (1-0) cruised to a 7-2 victory over the Wantagh/ Seaford/ Plain Edge Kings (0-1).

Nathan Sobel scored twice and added an assist in a memorable varsity debut. 

Dominic Carron scored his first career varsity goal for RVC.

Joe Columbel made 21 saves on 28 shots in a losing effort for WSP. 

Jonathan Denier sniped top shelf for his first of the season to give WSP a 1-0 lead 3:04 into the 1st period. 

Sobel scored his first career varsity goal to tie it with 4:24 gone by in opening stanza. Nicholas Johnson circled the net and fed it to the slot where Sobel kicked it to his stick before burying it.

Carron scored his first career varsity goal to put RVC up 2-1 6:07 into the first frame. Carron went top shelf on a rebound attempt. 

Jason Rick went forehand-backhand to score a breakaway goal to make it 3-1 Cyclones with 10:24 gone by in the 1st period. 

Ryan Agovino scored on a shot to cut the lead to one on the power play 8:12 into the 2nd period. 

Matt Regan tucked it short side 12:46 into the second stanza to make it 4-2 RVC. 

Sobel went top shelf for his second of the night with 31 seconds gone by in the 3rd period. 

Owen Finnegan sniped far side 5:31 into the third stanza.

Phillip Uspensky beat Columbel on a wicked wrister to make it 7-2 with 11:34 gone by in the final frame.
