Cyclones Bounce Back With Win Over Friends
BETHPAGE, NY-Rockville Centre/East Rockaway/Hewlett Cyclones took down Friends Academy on Tuesday evening by a score of 4-2. The Cyclones improved to 3-1 and Friends Academy fell to a 1-1 record.
Nicholas Johnson opened the scoring with an amazing goal. He dangled through the defense before getting the puck back to his forehand and ripping it into the goal. 3:47 into the game the Cyclones took the lead.
Efraim Ilyaich brought the Cyclones lead to 2-0 off an odd-man rush. His pass across was denied but Ilyaich picked the puck back up and scored himself.
The 2-0 lead only lasted for 2:32 as Friends Academy got on the board courtesy of Teddy Kenny. With 4:30 left in the middle stanza, Kenny curled into the slot from behind the net and scored.
Andrew McCartan tied the game at two 4:18 into the third period. A burst of speed shot McCartan into the offensive zone where a quick snap shot beat the goaltender and evened the score.
Rockville Centre/East Rockaway/Hewlett stole the lead right back when Ilyaich scored his second goal of the night. He showed off the dangles walking around the defender to give his team a 3-2 lead 29 seconds later, with 10:42 to go in the game.
b scored his second goal of the game while shorthanded into an empty net to seal the deal for the Cyclones, a 4-2 score.
Sean Barrett and John Schmidt split the net for the Cyclones tonight to get the win.
