Chiefs Clobber Cougars

HAUPPAUGE N.Y. (LISN)Junior Tierny Recenello scored once and added four assists as the East Islip Chiefs (5-4) extended their win streak to three with a 10-4 victory over the Middle Country Cougars (0-9)

Freshman Jack Fontaine scored twice in a five point performance. The freshman phenom had a hand in five of EI’s first six goals on Monday night. 

Senior Jack Dolson netted his second hat-trick in as many nights. 

Senior Patrick O’Shea picked up his third win through six starts for East Islip. 

Senior Harold Stauffer netted his second hat-trick of the season for Middle Country. 

Sophomore Ryan McMillan scored his first career varsity goal for the Cougars. 

Junior Kenny Bridgeford Jr. made his fifth start of the season for Middle Country. 

Stauffer scored 12 seconds into the 1st period to put the Cougars up 1-0. 

Dolson rolled off the right wing wall and fired a long wrister to tie the game with 12:49 remaining in the opening stanza. 

58 seconds later Recenello scored his fourth of the season to put EI up 2-1. Recenello beat on a give and go with Fontaine after Bridgeford slid right-to-left. 

Fontaine netted his first of the night with 6:50 left in the first frame. Fontaine on a spinning shot from the slot with that was assisted by Junior Brady Reinhart and Recenello

Stauffer scored a breakaway goal to cut the Chiefs lead to 3-2 with 13:22 to go in the 2nd period. 

Dolson netted his second of the night with 8:53 remaining in the second stanza. Senior Evan LaFata came in two on one before moving it to Dolson who scored as he was taken down from behind by a Cougars defender. 

LaFata scored the eventual game winner with 3:49 left in the second frame to make it 5-2 EI.

Fontaine scored his seventh of the season on a breakaway with 44 seconds to go. Recenello stripped Stauffer of the puck and made the lead pass to Fontaine who went glove side high. 

27 seconds later Dolson completed the hat-trick  for his eleventh of the campaign to make it 7-2 East Islip. Bridgeford denied Recenello at point blank range before the puck came beneath the goal line to Fontaine who found Dolson wide open in the slot for a shot that beat the goaltender glove side. 

53 seconds into the 3rd period Junior Logan Barton scored his fifth of the season. Barton went forehand-backhand on the breakaway for the Chiefs third goal in a span of 1:37. 

LaFata netted his ninth of the year and fourth on the power play with 10:24 remaining in the third frame. LaFata rifled it past Bridgeford on a shot from just outside the left wing face off dot.

Freshman Ryan Bradley scored his third of the season and EI’s seventh unanswered goal of the night with 9:00 left in the final stanza to make it 10-2. Bradley muscled past a defender and went glove side to score a breakaway goal.

McMillan scored his first of the career with 6:20 to go in the 3rd period. McMillan went bar down on a shot from beneath the right wing face off dot.

Stauffer completed the hat-trick on a backhand shot with 4:50 remaining in regulation to make it a 10-4 game.
