Campo Keeps Cooking In Bulls Win

Senior Max Campo netted a hat-trick to power the Smithtown-Hauppauge Bulls (2-0) to a 7-2 win over the Connetquot-Sayville T-Birds (1-1-) Senior Aidan Halliday picked up his second win in as many starts for the Bulls. Senior Richie Westhoff made some big time saves in his long awaited varsity debut for the the T-Birds.

Senior Gavin Bareham netted his second of the season with 7:32 left in the 1st period to put Bulls up 1-0. Senior R.J. Pfister made a no-look pass on a two on one opportunity to Bareham, who sniped stick side high.  

Senior Max Campo scored his third of the season to make it a two goal game with 2:17 left in the opening frame. Campo cut into the slot to receive a backhand pass from beneath the goal, before coming in all alone to fire a perfectly placed shot above the left pad and beneath the glove of Westhoff. 

With 21 seconds remaining in the 1st period, Senior Michael Wagner scored his first career varsity goal to make it 3-0 Smithtown-Hauppauge. Wagner went five-hole on a quick wrist shot from beneath the right wing dot after the Bulls forced a turnover. 

Junior Logan Booth Alam potted his second of the season on the power play with 10:13 remaining in the 2nd period. Senior Logan Keil made a drop pass at the blue line for Sophomore Joe Villani, whose shot from the left wing wall was turned aside by Halliday before Booth Alam buried the rebound on the back door. 

Campo netted his fourth of the season, and second of the night, to make it 4-1 Smithtown-Hauppauge with 6:18 to go in the second stanza. Junior Connor Dubeau entered the zone, the puck was poked off his stick, and the Bulls captain, Senior Brendan Landrigan, collected it before finding Campo in the slot for a one-timer that beat a sliding Westhoff.

Senior Jackson Cantalupo scored his first of the season to make it a four goal game with 4:28 left in the second frame. Cantalupo sniped glove side high off a quick feed from Landrigan.  

Cantalupo scored his second of the night just 18 seconds into the third frame to make it 6-1 Bulls. Cantalupo came in one on one and sniped five-hole. 

Campo redirected a shot from the point past Westhoff to complete the hat-trick with 13:29 remaining to give the Bulls a six goal lead. The T-Birds called timeout following the Bulls fourth unanswered goal.

Senior Nick Theodoulou netted his first career varsity goal with 2:43 left in regulation. Theodoulou got to work on the forecheck, forcing a turnover before burying it before Halliday can get set.
