Bulldogs Build On First Place Lead

BETHPAGE, NY- The Bellmore-Merrick Bulldogs moved to 9-1 and have expanded their first-place lead in Varsity Conference I to four points. They defeated The Half Hollow Hills Hornets (2-5) by a score of 4-1 on Tuesday night.

Jonathan Wheeler was in the right place at the right time to clean up a loose rebound to score the games first goal. It came 4:07 into the second period to break the scoreless tie and put Hills in front.

1:46 later Jourdan Luskoff tied the game by deflecting Kyle Wilcha’s point shot. The second ended with the score deadlocked at one.

Anthony Max Vitale gave the Bulldogs the lead tapping the puck in on the right post just 2:57 into the third period.

Collin Roulston cut to the net and wrapped the puck around the goaltender to extend the Bulldogs lead to 3-1.

Luskoff scored to make it 4-1 and four unanswered goals for the Bulldogs with 7:14 to go in the game. It was his second goal of the game.

In goal for the 4-1 win for Bellmore-Merrick was Joseph Braglia.

The Hornets are back in action tonight as they play the Massapequa Chiefs, 6:15 pm at The Town Of Oyster Bay Skating Center.

The Bulldogs do not return to the ice until the new year, as they play Long Beach at the Freeport Recreation Center on Jan. 3 at 9:15 pm.
