Brody Dickson’s Night Out

EI netminder Brody Dickson laced ’em up as winger and scored his first career varsity goal in a two point performance as the East Islip Chiefs (11-1-2) defeated the Longwood Lions (0-14) by a final score of 12-0. Corey McGovern recorded his first shutout of the season for the Chiefs. Christopher Primiani started his ninth game of the campaign for the Longwood Lions.

With 5:18 remaining in the first frame, Evan LaFata netted the eventual game winning goal for the Chiefs. Liam Godbout extended the lead to 2-0 on a shot coming right off the draw. With 1:21 remaining in the first period Anthony Pepe made it a three goal game. After a hooking call went against the Longwood Lions Jack McGarry netted his first career varsity goal for EI on the power play.

Luke Walther scored with 14:08 remaining in the second stanza. Liam Godbout netted his second of the night to extend the Chiefs lead to 6-0. Luke Walther potted his second goal of the period with 11:28 remaining in play. Evan LaFata scored his second of the game on the power play goal. Bryan Slattery and Kieran Freelin scored for the East Islip Chiefs. With 4:17 remaining in the second stanza, Luke Walther completed the second period hat trick. Brody Dickson went on to score the Chiefs lone goal of the third period on a rebound.

The Longwood Lions generated several scoring chances, but a couple bad bounces prevented them from finding the back of the net. Christopher Primiani kept the game scoreless early on, but the high octane Chiefs offense managed to capitalize on a flurry of high danger scoring chances as the game progressed. The Lions line of Aydan Azmoun, William Keegan and Brandon Scheuermann did a good job of forcing turnovers that led to scoring chances in transition. Nicholas Gigante, Joseph Golod and Jacob Storm displayed great awareness in solid two-way performances for the Lions.

With Ryan Anatra out of the lineup for the fourth consecutive contest, the youngsters stole the show early on against the Longwood Lions. Jack Dolson, Evan LaFata and Jack McGarry showcased their high level speed and skill in transition. Liam Godbout and Luke Walther thrived in increased minutes for EI.
