Luke Pichichero scored the shorthanded game winner to lift the Long Beach Marines to a 4-3 victory over the Half Hollow Hills Hornets in the NYIHSHL Quarterfinals. Matt Marino made 15 saves in a winning performance for the Marines. Luke Guttman made 21 saves in the Hornets loss. 

Richie Behr Jr scored with 6:24 remaining in the 1st period to give the Marines a 1-0 lead.  Michael Calvi tied up his man as Daniel McArdle made a stretch pass to Behr Jr to create a 2 on 1. Behr Jr walked in to beat Guttman glove side on a shot from the left wing dot. 21 seconds later Petey Menexas tied the game for the Hornets. Jett Lucas made a cross ice feed to the slot where Menexas settled the puck, walked in beneath the right wing circle and fired it glove side high. Jett Lucas scored with 2:02 remaining in the period to give the Hornets their first and only lead of the game. Dylan Reader made a quick pass to his brother Brandon Reader who fired a shot that Lucas redirected past Marino. 

Liam Young scored with 10:49 remaining in the second stanza to tie the game at 2-2. A turnover by the Hornets led to the Marines youngster capitalizing on a golden opportunity. Daniel McArdle and Quinn Judge picked up assists on the play. 

Luke Pichichero scored with 12:49 remaining in the 3rd period to put the Marines up 3-2. A snapshot by Daniel McArdle on the power play led to Pichichero burying the rebound. Petry Menexas potted his second of the game with 5:41 left in the period to tie the game. Jonathan Wheeler collected the rebound off his own shot before dishing from beneath it to Menexas for the tap in from right in front. Luke Pichichero scored the game winner for the Marines with 3:41 remaining in regulation. Pichero came in on a 2 on 2 before firing a perfectly placed shot over the left pad of Guttman. The Marines held on to win 4-3.
