Wings Defeat Seahawks 7-2

Jeremi Dziedzic scored a hat-trick as the Garden City Wings (13-1-1-1) won 7-2 over the Cold Spring Harbor Seahawks (8-7-1-0). Carter Pickens made 11 saves in his fourth win through five starts. Jake Panetta made 18 stops in his 14th start of the season.

Jeremi Dziedzic buried a rebound to give the Wings a 1-0 lead with 13:52 left in the opening frame. Hunter Yulico went coast-to-coast on the power play, split the defense and went forehand-backhand to tie the game with 2:11 remaining in the frame. Just 50 seconds later Alex Bedard put the Wings back up by one. Bedard entered the zone cutting from the left wing to the right wing face off circle and beat the netminder stick side high.

Jeremi Dziedzic potted the eventual game winner with 9:31 remaining in the second stanza. T.J. Moody entered the zone moved the puck to Dziedzic who fired a shot through a screen to make it a two score game. Two minutes later Jack Read scored his 4th goal of the season for the Seahawks. Hunter Yulico fired a shot from the point on the power play and Read buried it from the back door. Jack Vessio scored his first of the game to put the Wings up 4-2 with 6:19 remaining. Alex Bedard made a drop pass off a zone entry and Vessio fired a shot through traffic to beat the netminder.

Alex Bedard lit the lamp for his 18th of the season with 5:53 remaining in the final frame. Bedard forced a turnover at his own blue line, moved the puck to Thomas Bacich as the Wings forwards entered the Seahawks 2 on 1 where Bacich got it right back to Bedard who let it rip to beat the sliding netminder. Jeremi Dziedzic completed the hat-trick to give the Wings a four goal lead with 3:38 left in regulation. Bobby Seaman made a drop pass to Dziedzic who fired a shot that went off the iron and in. Jack Vessio scored his 6th of the season on the power play with 1:01 remaining in the game.
