Undefeated No More! Bulls Knock Off Friars In OT!

HAUPPAUGE, N.Y. (LISN) — Senior Shane Reidy scored the game-winner in a 2-1 overtime win as the Smithtown/Hauppauge Bulls (15-1) handed the St. Anthony’s Friars (15-0-0-1) their first loss of the season.

St. Anthony’s remains one point ahead of Smithtown/ Hauppauge in the standings, because the Friars lone loss came in overtime.

Senior Aidan Halliday allowed just one goal against in his 9th win through 10 starts for the Bulls.

Sophomore Aidan Landrigan scored the game-tying goal late in the 3rd period to force overtime.

Junior Jordan Valcich allowed two goals against in his 5th start in net for the Friars.

The Friars opened the scoring at 9:49 of the 1st period when Junior Nick Busa netted his 8th goal of the season. Busa crashed the net to bury the rebound after Senior Joe Rocco rifled one on net.

Aidan Landrigan netted his 10th goal of the season at 13:21 in the 3rd period to force overtime. The Bulls’ captain, Senior Brendan Landrigan, received a pass off the wall before entering the zone on a 2-on-1 and moved it to his younger brother, Aidan, for a backdoor, tap-in goal.

Halliday made several key stops late in the game to keep the Bulls’ hopes of victory alive.

Reidy scored the golden goal, his 16th of the campaign at 1:35 in overtime, capping off a dramatic victory for the defending SCHSHL champions. Once again, Brendan Landrigan spearheaded the zone entry for the Bulls, delivering a perfect drop pass to Reidy, who capitalized with a stick-side shot to win it 2-1.
