T-Birds Defeat Lions 2-1 On Senior Night 

Joey Villani scored the game winning goal as the Connetquot Sayville BBP T-Birds  (9-11) won 2-1 over the West Islip Lions (4-12-1-3). Alex Clark picked up his 5th career varsity win for the T-Birds. Braiden Buccino made his 11th start of the season for the Lions. 

James Barbieri scored a shorthanded goal to give the West Islip Lions a 1-0 lead with 12:50 remaining in the 1st period. Liam Henshaw forced a turnover, Will Shields raced up ice to enter 2 on 2 with Barbieri. After the play was initially broken up by T-Birds defenseman Joey Villani, Shields recovered the puck and made a cross ice feed to Barbieri for a one-time clapper. Braiden Buccino made a series of show stopping saves in the 1st period including a pad stop on a breakaway opportunity for Ryan Fleischauer. 

Brent Brdey scored the equalizer on the power play to tie the game at 1-1 with 5:37 left in the second stanza. Brdey walked in between the right wing hash marks and the faceoff dot to fire a laser past the blocker of Buccino through a screen set by Joey Villani. The T-Birds scored the second power play goal of the game courtesy of Joey Villani with 4:22 remaining in the period. Matt Campagnola moved it the slot for Ryan Fleischauer who had stick lifted and Villani got a quick shot on net before poking the rebound through the five-hole of Buccino. 

The Lions would pull Buccino in favor of an extra attacker with 27 seconds left in the 3rd period however Alex Clark shut the door down the stretch as the T-Birds held on to win by one.
