Sachem Storms Past West Islip

HAUPPAUGE N.Y. (LISN)Senior Dom Oppedisano scored four goals as Sachem (5-3) cruised to an 11-3 victory over West Islip (2-6)

Sophomore C.J. Pena scored twice in a three point outing. Junior Chase Saunders potted one goal in a two point performance. 

Senior Scott Loeb picked up his fourth win of the year to stay perfect on the season. 

Junior Colin Hovanec started in goal before being relieved by Sophomore Tyler Sapoff

Saunders opened the scoring with 12:56 left in the opening frame. The Sachem sniper received a cross crease feed from Junior James Drago before firing a shot that beat the West Islip goaltender as he slid left to right. 

Drago went glove side high to make it 2-0 with 11:09 remaining in the 1st period. 

Oppedisano scored stick side high with 4:57 to go in the first stanza. 

53 seconds later Senior Aiden Cisco dangled through the West Islip defense and went top cheddar for his first career varsity goal. 

Oppedisano scored his second of the night with 1:38 to go in the opening frame. 

Pena scored 45 seconds into the 2nd period to make it 6-0. 

Oppedisano blew by the defense before going backhand-forehand to tuck it home for his third of the night with 9:52 to go in the second stanza. 

Pena scored his fifth of the season with 7:39 in the 2nd period. 

34 seconds later Oppedisano scored his tenth of the season to make it 9-0. Junior Joe Wandling made a beautiful feed to the back door for a streaking Oppedisano to bury it.

Junior Kevin Lyoshir scored his fourth of the season with 6:34 left in the second frame. 

Sapoff entered the game after the Lyoshir goal. 

Senior Ciaran Pollard, the West Islip captain, put the Lions on the board with a power play goal with 3:52 left in the 2nd period.

Drago scored his third of the year with 1:35 left in the second stanza to make it a 11-1 game. 

Pollard scored his second of the game with 36 seconds left in the period. 

Pollard scored his league leading 18th goal on a breakaway to complete the hat-trick with 2:38.
