Penn State Harrisburg delivered a dominant 7-1 victory over Lehigh University’s M2 team at Steel Ice Center on Saturday, completing a commanding season sweep of their ECHC rivals. The Nittany Lions’ explosive offensive display marked their most decisive win in the series and improved their record to 12-10 on the season.
The visiting Penn State Harrisburg squad controlled the game from start to finish, building on their earlier 4-2 victory over Lehigh from October 31st. The seven-goal outburst represented a significant bounce-back performance for a team that entered the contest with an 11-10 record after 21 games, demonstrating the offensive firepower that has kept them competitive in ACHA play this season.
For Lehigh’s M2 team, the lopsided defeat continued a difficult campaign that has seen them struggle to find their footing early in the season. Entering Saturday’s contest with an 0-2 record through just two games played, the Mountain Hawks faced an uphill battle against a more experienced Penn State Harrisburg side that had already played 21 contests.
The atmosphere at Steel Ice Center couldn’t lift the home team as Penn State Harrisburg methodically pulled away throughout the contest. The victory gives the Nittany Lions valuable momentum as they continue their ECHC conference schedule, while Lehigh will look to regroup and find their first win of the young season in upcoming matchups.
