Mills Completes Hat Trick as TCDMHA Defeats Shallow Lake 6-4 in NYIHSHL Tournament Action

Henry Mills erupted for three goals to lead TCDMHA to a 6-4 victory over Shallow Lake in NYIHSHL tournament action Saturday at Tara Community Centre. Mills recorded all three of his tallies in the opening period, completing his hat trick with an unassisted marker at 2:58 to cap a dominant first-period performance that staked his team to a commanding 4-1 lead.

The explosive opening frame saw TCDMHA overwhelm Shallow Lake with four goals in less than seven minutes of game time. Mills opened the scoring at 9:44 before Rhett Roulston added a short-handed goal at 6:30. After Liam Orr briefly answered for Shallow Lake at 5:01, Mills took over with two goals in just over a minute to complete his hat trick and give TCDMHA firm control of the contest.

Shallow Lake showed resilience in the middle frame, with Orr notching his second goal of the game at 9:04 assisted by Scott Miller, followed by Evan Burns’ tally at 8:09 with help from Braden King. However, Conlee Beckett’s unassisted goal at 5:58 proved to be the game-winner, restoring TCDMHA’s two-goal cushion at 5-3 entering the final period.

The teams traded goals in the third period, with Kinley Vincent scoring for Shallow Lake at 9:37 with an assist from Burns before Felix Weir sealed the victory for TCDMHA at 2:45, assisted by John Mortley. Despite the loss, Orr finished with two goals to pace Shallow Lake’s offense, while Burns contributed a goal and an assist in the losing effort.
