Lysohir’s hat-trick powers Sachem to 8-3 win over Ward Melville Patriots

HAUPPAUGE, N.Y. (LISN)Junior Kevin Lysohir recorded a hat trick and added an assist to lead Sachem (9-4) to an 8-3 victory over the Ward Melville Patriots (4-9).

Senior Dominick Oppedisano potted a power play and added three assists.

Senior Joey Capece lit the lamp in a strong, two-way performance.

Junior Michael Digirolamo earned the win for Sachem, making timely saves throughout the game.

Senior Luke Tannenbaum made several key stops for the Ward Melville Patriots but faced heavy pressure from Sachem’s offense.

Lysohir opened the scoring at the 13:45 mark of the 1st period.

Junior Nyckie Ress netted his second of the season with 5:12 remaining in the 1st period to extend Sachem’s lead to 2-0.

Senior Aidan Ayers answered for the Patriots, scoring his 10th of the campaign with the 4:32 left in the 1st period to make it 2-1.

Just nine seconds later, Junior Chase Saunders scored his seventh of the season to restore Sachem’s two-goal lead.

Lysohir scored on a breakaway for his second of the game with 3:06 remaining in the 1st period to make it 4-1 Sachem.

With 1:58 left in the 1st period, Capece scored his fourth of the season.

Junior Caiden Marcus potted his fifth of the campaign with 8:10 remaining in the second stanza to push Sachem’s lead to 6-1.

Senior Anthony Cerulli struck back with his sixth of the season for the Patriots at 7:54 of the 2nd period, cutting the deficit to 6-2.

At 6:35 of the 2nd period, Lysohir scored his 11th of the season to complete the hat-trick, and put Sachem up 7-2.

Senior Anthony Giantinoto responded for the Patriots with 5:00 remaining in the middle frame to bring the score to 7-3.

At 2:53 of the 2nd period, Oppedisano added a power play marker, his 12th tally of the season to make it 8-3.

Sachem held on to secure the win as neither team found the back of the net in the final frame.
