Knights Defeat T-Birds 13-2

HAUPPAUGE, N.Y. (LISN)Senior Jesse Lemza scored a hat trick and added an assist as the Kings Park/Commack Knights (10-3) won 13-2 over the Connetquot/Sayville T-Birds (2-11)

Senior Jack Salva added a hat-trick of his own and added two assists.

Senior John Coyle also netted a hat trick with one assist in the victory.

Senior Jayson Krauthammer led the Knights to his fifth win through seven starts. 

Senior Alex Clark started his seventh game of the season for the T-Birds. 

Lemza tapped one home for the Knights with 13:32 left in the first period.

Just 13 seconds later, Salva lit the lamp to double the lead to 2-0.

Lemza struck again with 12:04 remaining, netting the eventual game winning goal. 

Senior Ryan Furst added to the lead with 7:38 left in the first, scoring unassisted to make it 4-0.

Less than a minute later, Junior Jackson Ciofrone netted a beauty for his fifth goal of the season at 7:22.

Salva added his second goal of the game with 5:39 remaining in the opening frame.

Coyle got on the board with 2:11 left in the 1st period to give the Knights a commanding 7-0 lead at the first intermission. Coyle dangled past the defender before putting it off the pipe and in.

Lemza completed the hat-trick, his third of the season, with 11:09 remaining in the second stanza. 

Coyle then potted back-to-back goals, first at 9:06 and then at 7:56 of the 2nd period to complete the hat-trick and push the score to 10-0. The first goal was a partial breakaway, and the second was a 1 on 0. 

Nine seconds later, Salva scores a breakaway goal to cap off his first hat-trick of the season. 

Furst netted his second goal of the game and seventh of the season with 3:01 left in the 2nd period, to extend the Knights’ lead to 12-0.

The T-Birds got on the board in the 3rd period when Junior Logan Booth Alam scored on the power play with 11:07 remaining, making it 12-1.

Senior Ryan Angello answered for the Knights with 1:59 to go, scoring his first career varsity on a tap in to make it 13-1.

Sophomore Joe Villani scored for the T-Birds with just one second left, adding a late tally to bring the final score to 13-2.

Upcoming Schedule

The Kings Park/Commack Knights (10-3) close out the calendar year against the Middle Country Cougars (0-12) on Monday, December 16 at 9:40 pm. The Knights defeated the Cougars 14-2 on Wednesday, October 16.

The Connetquot/Sayville T-Birds (2-11) look to bounce back into the win column against the West Islip Lions (3-9) on Wednesday, December 18 at 9:20 pm. The T-Birds fell 4-3 in their first meeting against the Lions on Wednesday, October 16. A loss could leave them on the outside looking in as the playoff race heats up.
