Hindman’s Two Goals Power Arran Elderslie A Past Walkerton in Tournament Thriller
Colton Hindman scored twice in the third period, including the game-winner with 2:26 remaining, as Arran Elderslie A rallied from a 3-2 deficit to defeat Walkerton 4-3 in NYIHSHL tournament action Saturday at Tara Community Centre. The dramatic comeback capped a wild final frame that saw four goals scored in the opening six minutes.
Walkerton appeared poised for victory after Edward Goulet’s unassisted tally at 0:54 gave the visitors a 3-2 advantage early in the third. But Hindman had other plans, tying the game at 5:06 with his first unassisted goal before delivering the knockout punch less than three minutes later. The senior forward’s heroics overshadowed a strong two-goal performance from Max Dudgeon, who had staked Arran Elderslie A to a 2-1 lead in the second period with goals at 9:30 and 2:24, both assisted by Mack Healy.
The see-saw affair began with Patrick Snider opening the scoring for Walkerton at 5:31 of the first period, assisted by Goulet. Ryan Brindley briefly restored Walkerton’s lead in the second with an even-strength goal at 8:23, set up by Maddex Schneider, but it wasn’t enough to prevent Arran Elderslie A from advancing in the tournament. Goulet finished with a goal and an assist to pace Walkerton’s offense, while Healy’s two helpers led Arran Elderslie A’s balanced attack that saw four different players find the scoresheet.
