Friars Top Tigers 6-1

HAUPPAUGE, N.Y. — Junior Nick Busa recorded a goal and an assist to lead St. Anthony (17-1-0) to a decisive 6-1 victory over Northport/ Huntington (7-11-0) on Monday night.

Senior James Aspromonti added a goal and an assist.

Senior Zack Sirel scored once in a two-point effort.

Senior Nick Tempone started in goal for St. Anthony’s, earning his 6th win in as many starts. Senior Dom Feiler was in goal for the 2nd period. Junior Jordan Valcich was in net for the 3rd period.

Junior Boden Rudloff made his 11th start in net for Northport/ Huntington.

Senior Vito Sacino opened the scoring at 11:43 of the 1st period with his 6th goal of the season.

Sophomore Jordan Oromaner tied the game for Northport/Huntington at 6:56 of the 1st period with his first career varsity goal. Oromaner buried a rebound after the Tigers power play expired.

Busa scored the game-winning goal at 1:01 of the 1st period, his 9th of the campaign, giving St. Anthony’s a 2-1 lead heading into the 2nd period. Busa deflected a pass from Senior James Schendorf past Rudloff.

Sirel cashed in on a rebound opportunity to extend the lead to 3-1 with his 19th goal of the season at 7:55 of the 2nd period.

Aspromonti made it 4-1 with his 11th goal of the campaign at 3:18 of the 2nd period.

Schendorf went top cheddar with a backhanded beauty, his 12th goal of the season, at 11:53 of the 3rd period.

Senior Will Bisogno capped the scoring with a highlight real goal, his 3rd tally of the season, at 1:11 of the 3rd period.

Upcoming Schedule

The St. Anthony’s Friars (17-1) look to complete the series sweep against the East Islip Chiefs (9-9) on Wednesday, January 29 at 9:20 p.m. in what is both teams’ penultimate game of the season.

The Northport/ Huntington Tigers (7-11) face off against the Kings Park/ Commack Knights on Monday, February 3rd at 8:10 pm. The Tigers have been shutout in two of their last three meetings against a Knights squad that hasn’t forgotten J.T. Caruso’s overtime winner last season.
