Friars On Fire In 8-0 Victory Over Longwood Lions
The St. Anthony’s Friars (11-5-1) extended their win streak to four and point streak to seven with an 8-0 victory over the Longwood Lions (0-16-0-1). T.J. Ulmschneider picked up his league leading fourth shutout in his seventh win through twelve starts. The Friars have shutout their opponents in three consecutive games with Ulmschneider between the pipes for two of them. Anthony Frega made his eighth career varsity start for the Longwood Lions.
Devin Curry scored to give the Friars a 1-0 lead with 14:19 remaining in the 1st period. Louis Cutalo IV won the draw back to Jack Mancini who fired a shot that was turned aside by Frega. Curry collected the rebound and went forehand-backhand to beat the outstretched right pad of the Lions netminder. Tommy Azzariti extended the Friars lead to 2-0 with 10:01 remaining in the period. Azzariti cut from the left wing corner to the slot, brought the puck backhand-forehand before tapping it in. James Schnendorf sniped glove side high to put the Friars up 3-0 with 6:40 remaining in the frame. Louis Cutalo IV scored to give the Friars a four goal lead. Brody O’Doherty drove to the net, made a quick touch pass to Cutalo who fired the one-timer to beat Frega stick side high from the left wing dot. The Friars phenom, Brody O’Doherty, extended his goal scoring streak to four games to make it 5-0 Friars. The blue liner went coast-to-coast, blew by a defender and scored five-hole. The Captain, Brady Monteleone, potted the Friars final goal of the first frame. Devin Curry entered the zone, moved the puck to Gerard Nealon who threaded the needle on a pass to backdoor for Monteleone to tap it home.
Brady Monteleone netted the Friars lone goal of the 2nd period to give St. Anthony’s a 7-0 lead with 2:43 remaining in the frame. Michael Catizone made a pass to Monteleone who beat Frega with a redirection from the backdoor. Tommy Azzariti gave the Friars an eight goal lead with 13:29 left in the 3rd period. Zack Sirel made the lead pass to Azzariti who went forehand-backhand to score.
