Friars Blank Tigers 6-0

Senior James Schendorf scored the eventual game winner as the St. Anthony’s Friars (8-0) won 6-0 to hand the Northport-Huntington Tigers (3-6) their fifth straight loss. 

Senior James Aspromonti scored twice in a four point performance. 

Senior Nick Tempone recorded his first career varsity shutout. The St. Anthony’s goaltender has three wins in as many starts, and has allowed three goals against through ten periods of play. 

Schendorf scored his fifth of the season to break the shutout with 4:59 left in the 2nd period. Aspromonti made a stretch pass to Schendorf who went top shelf. 

Senior Anthony Scorcia scored his second of the season with 3:57 remaining in the second stanza to make it 2-0 St. Friars. Scorcia redirected a shot by Senior Cormac Terry into the back of the net. 

Aspromonti potted his first of the night with 6:59 to go in the 3rd period. Aspromonti scored on a shot from the slot that was assisted by Schendorf.  

Junior Tommy Azzariti netted his tenth of the year with 6:31 left in the third stanza to make it 4-0. Azzariti went end-to-end before rifling a shot from the top of the slot past Rudloff

Senior Brody O’Doherty scored his fifth of the campaign with 5:11 remaining in the 3rd period. O’Doherty went blocker side to score a breakaway goal. 

Aspromonti scored his eighth of the year with 4:41 to go in the final frame. Aspromonti redirected a shot from the point by Terry past the netminder.

The Northport-Huntington Tigers (3-6) will look to right the ship in a rematch against the Kings Park-Commack Knights (7-2) on Wednesday, November 20 at 7:50 p.m. The Tigers lost 6-3 in their season opener against the Knights.

The St. Anthony’s Friars (9-0) will square off against the surging East Islip Chiefs (5-4) in their second meeting of the season on Wednesday, November 20 at 9:20 p.m. . The Friars defeated the Chiefs 9-4 in the season opener.
