Farmingdale State’s high-powered offense came alive at Fred Rust Ice Arena on Friday night, overwhelming Delaware 6-2 in a statement ECHC victory that showcased the Rams’ championship aspirations. Luke LaFata and Luke Ferazi each tallied three points to lead a balanced scoring attack that saw six different players find the scoresheet for the visitors, who improved to 14-6 on the season.
LaFata, who entered the game leading Farmingdale State with 28 points in 14 games, continued his torrid pace with two goals and an assist. The dynamic forward found perfect chemistry with Ferazi, who contributed a goal and two assists for his own three-point night. Ian Ribarich and Jake Paul each added a goal and an assist, while Joseph Castellano rounded out the scoring with his first goal of the contest.
The victory marked a dramatic reversal from the teams’ early-season series in October, when Delaware took two of three games on Long Island. This time, Farmingdale State dominated from the opening faceoff, outshooting the Blue Hens 41-28 and capitalizing on their opportunities with clinical precision. PJ Tursi was stellar between the pipes for the Rams, turning aside 26 of 28 shots for a .929 save percentage that stymied Delaware’s attack.
Delaware’s offense, led by Michael Gibbons (19 points in nine games entering) and Zachary Solomon (13 points in 10 games), managed just two goals despite a strong effort from Gavin Johns, who recorded a goal and an assist. Goalie Gavin Schornstein faced a barrage of shots but couldn’t stem the tide, allowing six goals on 41 shots as Farmingdale State’s depth proved too much to handle in the convincing road victory.
