Chiefs Win Barn Burner 8-6

HAUPPAUGE N.Y. (LISN)Junior Jack Dolson completed the hat-trick as the East Islip Chiefs (2-3) won 8-6 to snap the Northport-Huntington Tigers (3-2) three game win streak. Junior Evan LaFata scored twice including a power play goal before netting the game winner in a three point performance.

Freshman Jack Fontaine scored twice and added two assists in the Chiefs WIn. Senior Patrick O’Shea picked up his first career varsity win in his fourth start of the season.

Junior J.T. Caruso buried a rebound to open the scoring with 13:28 left in the 1st period to give the Northport-Huntington Tigers a 1-0 lead. 

Fontaine buried a rebound on the power play to tie it with 10:32 remaining in the opening frame. 

LaFata scored the second power play goal of the game with 7:45 to go in the first stanza to give EI a 2-1 lead. 

Dolson scored on a shot from the slot with 3:21 to double the Chiefs lead. 

O’Shea robbed Caruso at point blank range with just over two minutes left in the 1st period. O’Shea stopped the initial shot before making a diving glove save to deny Caruso. 

Dolson sniped stick side high on a two on one opportunity to make it 4-1 Chiefs with 1:14 left in the opening period.

O’Shea made another stop on a breakaway opportunity for Caruso in the final minute of the 1st period. 

Sophomore Justin Cahn buried a rebound 15 seconds into the 2nd period to make it a 4-2 hockey game. 

Sophomore Owen Karpioch went forehand-backhand to score on a shorthanded breakaway with 12:06 remaining in the second frame to cut the EI lead to one. 

Freshman Landon Musumeci buried a rebound off a two on one opportunity to make it a two goal game with 7:35 left in the second stanza. 

Less than a minute later, Fontaine sniped top shelf for his second of the game as the Chiefs doubled up the Tigers 6-3.  

Junior Ryan Collins scored 9 seconds later, sniping stick side high to make it a two score game. 

Northport-Huntington pulled back within one after Caruso scored with 3:30 remaining in the 2nd period. 

LaFata went top shelf to score the game winning goal on a breakaway with 8:31 left in the 3rd period.   

Karpioch scored on a shot from the slot with 3:48 left in the 3rd period to put the Tigers back within one. 

Dolson completed the hat-trick with 2:38 left to put East Islip.

East Islip held on to win 8-6 after Northport-Huntington went empty net.
