Chiefs Roll Past Patriots

Published

on

The East Islip Chiefs defeated the Ward Melville Patriots 6-1 on Monday night, advancing to the SCHSHL semifinals. Brody Dickson picked up the win in goal for the Chiefs

Early into the game with the Patriots starting a power play, it was the Chiefs who opened the scoring. A perfect clear high off the glass from L.J. Lena sprung Thomas Ivers on a breakaway, who chipped it past Sitler.

However, the Patriots power play wasn’t a total fail as Matthew Dann sniped a shot past Dickson to tie up the game 1:09 later. Jack McCormick picked up the assist.

Near the midway portion of the first period, Ivers struck again on another breakaway. That goal would stand as the game-winner, with the Chiefs looking for more goals as the game continued. Bryan Slattery and Anthony Pepe assisted the goal.

Ryan Anatra scored beautifully finishing off a great pass from Ivers. The 2-on-1 chance gave the Chiefs a 3-1 lead. Jack Dolson made it 4-1 by cleaning up a rebound late in the second period.

Anthony Marazzito scored finishing off a beautiful pass from Anatra. The scoring was finished off by Bryan Slattery who made it 6-1, where East Islip never looked back.

The Chiefs are back in action taking on the Smithtown-Hauppauge Bulls on Wednesday night, looking to make it to their second straight finals appearance.
