Bulls’ Third-Period Surge Sinks Sachem
HAUPPAUGE, N.Y. (LISN) — Senior Shane Reidy scored twice in the 3rd period as the Smithtown/Hauppauge Bulls (13-1) rallied to defeat Sachem (9-5) in a 6-3 victory.
Senior Brendan Landrigan netted the game-winning goal, helping to secure the comeback for the Bulls, in a two point performance
Senior Gavin Bareham tied the game early in the 3rd period before adding an assist.
Senior Aidan Halliday, in his 9th start, earned his 8th win for the Bulls.
Junior Michael Digirolamo, also in his 9th start, made several sensational saves in the Sachem loss.
Sachem opened the scoring in the 2nd period when Junior Kevin Lysohir found the back of the net with 9:56 left in the 2nd period to give his team a 1-0 lead.
The Bulls tried to answer back, but DiGirolamo made a sliding save to shut the door.
The Bulls were similarly stymied on the power play.
Junior Joe Wandling netted his first power play marker and sixth goal of the season with 1:33 remaining in the second stanza to make it 2-0 Sachem.
13 seconds into the 3rd period, Reidy put the Bulls to cut the deficit to 2-1.
Bareham lit the lamp for his seventh of the season to tie the game with 12:54 remaining in the third frame.
Reidy netted his second of the game and 15th of the season to make it 3-2 with 12:17 left in the final stanza.
Landrigan scored his tenth of the season to extend the Bulls’ lead to 4-2 at 11:54 of the 3rd period.
DiGirolamo made another timely save to keep the game within two.
Senior Michael Wagner added an insurance goal at 9:22, his 5th of the season, pushing the lead to 5-2.
Lysohir tallied his second of the night and first power play goal of the season 4:22 remaining in Regulation to bring Sachem within two. The Quinnipiac commit has 13 goals and 20 points in just eight games to date.
Senior Ray Sherwood sealed the win with an empty-netter at 1:08, his sixth goal of the season to secure the win.
