Bulls Rush By Sachem

HAUPPAUGE N.Y. (LISN) —  The Smithtown-Hauppauge Bulls (5-0) scored three straight goals in a 4-2 victory over Sachem (3-2). Senior Jackson Cantalupo scored the game winning goal for the Bulls, after Senior Shane Reidy scored the go-ahead goal and Senior Gavin Bareham scored the game-tying goal.

The Bulls Captain, Senior Brendan Landrigan, scored an empty net goal after assisting on the first two Bulls goals. His younger brother, Sophomore Aidan Landrigan, finished with three assists on the night. Senior Aidan Halliday picked up his fourth win of the season in a stellar performance for the Bulls.

Junior Kevin Lyoshir scored in his varsity debut for Sachem. Junior Cameron Kalberer scored his eighth of the campaign. Senior Michael DiGirolamo allowed three goals against in his third start of the season. 

Lyoshir opened the scoring with 9:17 remaining in the 2nd period to make it 1-0 Sachem. The Sachem Junior collected the puck in his own zone, wheeled past two defenders, faked, and went five-hole. 

Bareham scored the equalizer for the Bulls with 2:39 left in the second stanza. The Bulls Senior put it past the outstretched pad of DiGirolamo after he slid behind the defense to receive a pass from Brendan Landrigan. 

Reidy scored the go-ahead goal for Smithtown-Hauppauge with 13:49 left to go in the 3rd period. The Smithtown-Hauppauge speedster beat DiGirolamo on a toe-drag release shot after Brendan Landrigan moved it low-to-high. 

Cantalupo scored the eventual game winner with 7:14 left in the third frame to make it 3-1 Bulls. Aidan Landrigan entered the Sachem zone before giving it to Cantalupo who sniped top shelf.

Kalberer scored a power play goal on a shot from the slot with 5:39 left in the 3rd period to make it a one goal game.  

Sachem pulled DiGirolamo in favor of an extra attacker with 1:39 left in the final frame. The Captain, Brendan Landrigan, scored an empty net goal with 10 seconds left to seal the deal.
